Until now every photographed paper examined For Whom the Bell Tolls in the first half and The Old Man and the Sea in the second, while the handouts set Of Mice and Men instead. That uncertainty is over. The August 2026 paper examines Of Mice and Men in Q1–20 and For Whom the Bell Tolls in Q21–40. It is transcribed in full as Paper E, the first section of the exam bank.

What this changes. Both halves are live, and they have swapped ends. Steinbeck now comes first, examined exactly as predicted: symbols, speakers, missing words in quoted sentences, and ranch vocabulary (swamper, skinner). Hemingway comes second, in Prof. Iman's completely different format — one long critical sentence broken into ten consecutive blanks, then three vocabulary questions on the Donne epigraph.

Two of the Hemingway blanks are deletion traps keyed “none” (Q28 and Q33), and one is decided purely by the word “and” at the start of the next question (Q29). The Old Man and the Sea items remain, tagged Superseded and hidden behind a filter — keep them only to see the shapes of question Dr. Dasouki writes about a short novel.

How to use this in the last week

  1. Day 1. Read Both Novels, bilingual straight through. Two hours, and you will never be lost in a plot question again.
  2. Day 2. Work the All Previous Exams bank with the syllabus filter on “On the syllabus now” and the exam filter on ★★ On 2+ papers. That is the fixed pool. Get it to 100%.
  3. Day 3. Both Bell Tolls lecture banks, filter on High. This half is winnable outright.
  4. Day 4–5. Both Of Mice and Men banks, unfiltered — and read the novella itself if you can. This half now opens the paper (Q1–20 in August 2026), so give it the same weight as Hemingway.
  5. Day 6. The rest of the exam bank. Then switch the syllabus filter to “Only superseded” for twenty minutes, not to learn the answers but to see the shapes of the questions she writes about a novella.
  6. The night before. The Cheat Sheet, printed. Nothing else.
